TDI appointed to identify tourism opportunities for Ardee Castle

Louth County Council has appointed tourism planners Tourism Development International to prepare a Tourism Opportunities Development Plan for Ardee Castle.

Frank Pentony, Director of Services, Louth County Council said “Ardee Castle is the largest fortified medieval tower house in Ireland or Britain, and Louth County Council is determined to identify an appropriate tourism vision for the castle that will maximise on the castle’s uniqueness for the benefit of visitors and the local community alike”.

The castle has been closed for a number of years and Louth County Council is now giving priority to best determining how Ardee Castle can become a honey pot/tourism asset as part of Ireland’s Ancient East.

Louth County Council look forward to receiving the findings of the market research programme being undertaken by Tourism Development International in order that evidenced based research can support the future vision for this magnificent castle which sits prominently within the town of Ardee.
